Chelsea and Manchester City are leading the race to sign Barcelona attacking sensation Dro Fernandez.
Barcelona academy star Dro Fernandez’s sensational rise hasn’t gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs from across Europe have been keeping tabs on him and would absolutely love to sign the teenage attacking midfielder.
While he is quite highly rated by people at the club, the Spanish youth international has decided to part ways with the Catalan giants. According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea and Manchester City are very keen on signing the youngster.
Fernandez joined Barcelona’s famous youth academy in the summer of 2022 from Val Minor. He has gone up the ranks at some pace and was finally promoted to the first team towards the end of 2025.
While he is a part of Hansi Flick’s first team setup, the 18-year-old has hardly had any game time. He has been involved in 5 matches across competitions and has bagged an assist. However, the lack of regular minutes has frustrated the youngster.
His contract at the club runs until the summer of 2027, but it seems Fernandez has decided to part ways with the club in the ongoing transfer window. He has already informed the club about his decision. Since he has a bargain release clause worth €6 million, clubs in England are ready to push hard to secure his services.

Manchester City and Chelsea are believed to be the most serious suitors at this stage. City have entered the race for the youngster at the direct request of their manager Pep Guardiola. The Spanish manager considers him a perfect fit for his system, and his ability to feature as a number ten as well as on the flanks could certainly come in handy.
They are looking to stay ahead of the competition by offering him an elite development program, helping him fast-track his journey to regular first-team football. Meanwhile, he is a perfect fit for Chelsea’s project, which revolves around signing the best young players.
The London club have been monitoring him for a while now, and they are hoping to lure him to Stamford Bridge with a strong financial offer. The bidding war between the top clubs hasn’t intensified yet, but there is a very high possibility of either club winning the race for his signature.
