Ipswich Town make contract offer to Callum Wilson

Ipswich Town will reportedly hope to sign 33-year-old English striker Callum Wilson from West Ham United after offering him an 18-month contract.

According to a report by Football Insider, Callum Wilson is the subject of interest from Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 33-year-old West Ham United centre-forward has emerged as a target for the EFL Championship outfit.

The Premier League promotion hopefuls have offered the Englishman an 18-month contract to convince him to move to Portman Road. However, Ipswich Town will face stiff competition for Wilson’s signature, as Celtic and Everton are also keen on signing the out-of-favour West Ham United striker.

How has Callum Wilson fared at West Ham United?

Callum Wilson has made his mark since joining West Ham United in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window after leaving Newcastle United as a free agent. The 33-year-old has surprisingly remained injury-free thus far in the 2025/26 season, and he has been one of the most prolific attackers for the East London outfit.

The veteran English striker has scored four goals and provided one assist in 17 Premier League outings thus far in the 2025/26 season. However, Wilson may have no future at West Ham, as the Hammers have signed Pablo and Valentin Castellanos in the winter transfer window. The situation has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, with Everton and Ipswich Town among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this month.

Another move across the Premier League on the cards?

Everton’s interest in Callum Wilson makes sense. The Toffees have been combing the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window, as Beto and Thierno Barry have not been prolific in the first half of the 2025/26 season, scoring a combined five goals between them. Additionally, Beto’s long-term Everton future is uncertain amid his links with several well-known clubs.

Several strikers, including Youssef En-Nesyri, have thus emerged on Everton’s wishlist, with Wilson also a viable target. However, the Merseyside outfit will face stiff competition from Ipswich Town for the 33-year-old Englishman’s signature. The Tractor Boys have already offered an 18-month contract to convince Wilson to move to Portman Road.

With Ipswich Town in contention to return to the Premier League after only one season, Wilson can be a top-notch addition to Kieran McKenna’s squad. It will be interesting to see if the EFL Championship club can beat Everton and Celtic to the veteran English striker’s signature as he looks for his next destination after a short spell with West Ham United.
