Manchester City offer Oscar Bobb in a swap deal to sign Marc Guehi, as they look to beat Liverpool to his signature.
Following injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, Manchester City have been forced to look for a new centre-back in the ongoing transfer window. Pep Guardiola’s team are looking to bring in a world-class defender who can not only help them on an immediate basis but can also be an important part of their long-term plans.
City have their eyes set on Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi, whose contract at Selhurst Park runs out at the end of the season. The Manchester-based giants are pushing hard to secure his services this month. According to a report from TEAMtalk, they could offer Oscar Bobb in a swap deal as they look to beat Liverpool to his signature.
Guehi hasn’t looked back since joining the Eagles from Chelsea back in 2021. Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League. With just a year left on his deal, he was on the verge of joining Liverpool last summer, but the deal collapsed towards the end of deadline day.
While the Reds retain interest in him, they won’t be making a move now. The Merseyside club will wait until the summer and try to sign him as a free agent. City see this as a great opportunity to try and land the 25-year-old.
City are pushing hard to land Guehi
They consider him an ideal fit for their project, and given the amount of Premier League experience he has, they are confident that he would have an immediate impact. They are set to open talks with Crystal Palace to secure his services.
They are prepared to make an initial offer of around £25 million if they get encouragement from the player’s end, which looks very unlikely at this stage. It seems he is not too keen on a mid-season move with the World Cup coming up.
Meanwhile, the Eagles value him closer to £35 million, despite the fact that he will be a free agent in five months time. In order to bridge that gap, City are considering offering a player, and the Eagles seem interested in Oscar Bobb. While there is no clarity on what kind of deal it will be, it seems they could actually allow Bobb to join the Eagles.
At City, Guehi could earn close to £250,000 per week, making him one of their highest-paid players. But it still looks like a very difficult deal to strike.
