West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Filip Jorgensen this month to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
According to Team Talk, West Ham United have made enquiries about the availability of Filip Jorgensen in the current window. Nuno Espirito Santo is keen on recruiting a quality goalkeeper amid reports of his dissatisfaction with current options such as Alphonse Areola and Mads Hermansen.
West Ham are doing all they can to make use of the current window to secure important signings to boost their survival hopes. The Hammers are currently languishing in 18th position, and are some seven points behind the nearest safety spot, which is currently occupied by Nottingham Forest.
While some new attackers have arrived, there’s a focus on signing defenders and a new goalkeeper as a priority. The situation with the club is not completely hopeless at this point, meaning the club are doing all they can to secure key signings this month.
On the goalkeeping front, it’s not like Nuno Espirito Santo has a shortage of options, as the Portuguese coach has three quality keepers. Alphonse Areola has taken over the first-choice spot after a disastrous start to life from Mads Hermansen, with the club ready to consider offers for the latter.
They had set sights on Brazilian international Bento as a potential option, but the Al-Nassr star prefers a switch to Genoa over West Ham. Hence, they are still on the lookout for a new option and have made enquiries for Chelsea’s Filip Jorgensen. The keeper who arrived from Villarreal in a £20.7 million deal has been rendered without regular game time, which has seen him linked away with an exit.
West Ham to sign Filip Jorgensen?
West Ham have asked Chelsea about the availability of Jorgensen amid reports he is unhappy with life at Stamford Bridge. There are links to Besiktas this month, and now should an opportunity may arise from the Premier League, there’s some thinking for the £20.7 million 2024 signing, ahead of the next few days.
However, Chelsea have reportedly informed the Hammers of their intention to keep hold of Jorgensen as they does not want to weaken their goalkeeping ranks. Hence, QWest Ham may have to look for another option, as the Blues look likely to keep hold of Jorgensen as it is in their power to do so.
