Manchester City ready to offer £200,000-a-week deal to Marc Guehi

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester City are prepared to offer £200,000-a-week wages to Marc Guehi to beat Arsenal and Liverpool to his signature. The 25-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season, and he has been linked with multiple clubs this month.

The Englishman could be available for a reasonable amount of money in January. Alternatively, clubs could wait until the summer transfer window to sign him for free. He was very close to joining Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but the move collapsed in the end. Manchester City are now looking to secure his signature this month.

The Citizens need more quality and depth in the defensive unit. He would be an excellent upgrade on players like Nathan Ake and John Stones. The Crystal Palace captain has proven himself in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he would be an excellent acquisition. It remains to be seen if Manchester City can win the race for his signature.

City were unable to win the Premier League title or a major trophy since last season, and they will be desperate to get back to the top of English football once again. The English giants have brought in multiple quality signings in recent windows, and they are looking to tighten up at the back now.

Manchester City have looked vulnerable defensively, and they need to improve in that area of the pitch if they want to compete with elite clubs. Marc Guehi has proven himself in the Premier League, and he helped Crystal Palace win the Community Shield and the FA Cup last year. He will look to take on a new challenge now, and moving to Manchester City could be ideal for him as well.

Liverpool and Arsenal keen on Guehi

Meanwhile, Liverpool are interested in the player as well. They need to replace Ibrahima Konate, who will be out of contract at the end of the season. The 25-year-old Englishman could be the ideal replacement for the French international.

Finally, Arsenal are keeping tabs on his situation. The Gunners are already well-stocked in their defensive unit, and it will be quite surprising if they decide to make a move for the former Chelsea Academy graduate. Guehi should look to join a club where he will play regularly. Joining Arsenal does not make a lot of sense for him.
