Eric Dier offered to West Ham United

Intermediaries have reportedly offered West Ham United the chance to sign 31-year-old English defender Eric Dier from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco in the winter transfer window.

According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, West Ham United will have the opportunity to sign Eric Dier this month. Intermediaries have offered the veteran defender to the East London club, and they are “considering the option” for a move in the winter transfer window.

However, the report has revealed that “at this stage nothing is advanced yet” at West Ham, even though “it is an interesting opportunity” for the relegation-threatened Premier League club. It will be interesting to see if the Englishman moves to the London Stadium in the coming weeks.

How has Eric Dier fared in Ligue 1?

Eric Dier has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AS Monaco from Bayern Munich this past summer. The 31-year-old has become a journeyman in the last few years, as he completed a shock move to Bayern Munich two years ago before embarking on an 18-month stint with the Bavarian giants.

The former English international has been in and out of the starting lineup at AS Monaco, managing only 810 minutes of game time across nine appearances thus far for the Ligue 1 club. However, Dier may return to the Premier League soon, with intermediaries offering his services to West Ham United.

London return on the horizon?

West Ham United can do with a player like Eric Dier in the winter transfer window. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a centre-back in recent weeks, as Max Kilman faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium amid his links with Crystal Palace. Additionally, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos have not been consistent enough during their stints with West Ham.

Several candidates, including Yann Bisseck, have thus emerged on West Ham’s wishlist. However, Dier is also an option worth considering due to the 31-year-old Englishman’s extensive experience in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur for a decade.
