Blackburn Rovers make move to sign Triston Rowe from Aston Villa

Struggling EFL Championship club Blackburn Rovers will reportedly aim to sign 19-year-old English right-back Triston Rowe from Aston Villa in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Triston Rowe is the subject of interest from Blackburn Rovers. The Riversiders are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a right-back in the winter transfer window. So, the 19-year-old Aston Villa whizkid has emerged as a target for the struggling EFL Championship outfit.

Blackburn Rovers have submitted a bid to sign the Englishman, who has spent the 2025/26 season thus far with Ligue 2 club FC Annecy. While the Championship club will aim to secure Rowe’s services in a permanent deal, Aston Villa and the youngster would prefer another loan arrangement instead of moving to Ewood Park for the long haul.

Who is Triston Rowe?

Triston Rowe has had to bide his time since graduating from the youth division at Aston Villa. Born in Sandwell, the 19-year-old has spent most of his formative years thus far in England, starting his youth career with West Bromwich Albion before joining Aston Villa in July 2021.

The English full-back has spent the 2025/26 season thus far with FC Annecy, amassing over 1,000 minutes of game time in 15 appearances for the Ligue 2 outfit. Meanwhile, Rowe’s progress at the French club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Blackburn Rovers will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this month.

Championship move on the horizon?

Triston Rowe has been on Blackburn Rovers’ radar for a long time, and they wanted to sign him in the summer transfer window. The continued interest makes sense, as Valerien Ismael wants more options for the right-back berth heading into the second half of the 2025/26 season.

The Riversiders are in a precarious position in the EFL Championship standings, as they are only four points ahead of 22nd-placed Norwich City. So, with Ismael eager to avoid relegation from the second division, several targets have emerged on Blackburn’s wishlist, with Rowe also a viable target.

Blackburn Rovers have submitted a bid to sign the 19-year-old Englishman in the winter transfer window. However, while the EFL Championship club will aim to secure Rowe’s services in a permanent deal, Aston Villa and the youngster would prefer another loan arrangement. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the English full-back.
