Manchester City will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old English international Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Marc Guehi is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Citizens are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the winter transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Crystal Palace defender has emerged as a target for them.
The latest report has revealed that Manchester City will submit a bid worth £15-20 million to secure his services in the winter transfer window. The Englishman is also a target for Liverpool, albeit for the summer transfer window. However, with City pushing for a January deal, Crystal Palace may sanction his departure in the coming days.
What does the future hold for Marc Guehi?
Marc Guehi is close to embarking on a new adventure after entering the final six months of his Crystal Palace contract. The 25-year-old has evolved into one of the best defenders in the Premier League since arriving at Selhurst Park from Chelsea in July 2021, making significant progress in the last four years while becoming the club captain.
The English international has made nearly 200 appearances thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with 11 goals and eight assists. However, Guehi’s contract situation has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs. Manchester City and Liverpool are among the prospective suitors vying for the FA Cup winner’s signature.
A man in demand
Manchester City will dip into the market for a centre-back in the winter transfer window, as Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol are in the treatment room for several weeks. Additionally, John Stones and Nathan Ake face an uncertain future at the Etihad. So, Pep Guardiola is pushing for a defensive overhaul, with Marc Guehi also a viable target.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s continued interest in Guehi makes sense after they missed out on him this past summer. Giovanni Leoni has picked up a long-term knee injury and will not be fit enough to start the 2026/27 season. Additionally, Ibrahima Konate’s long-term future is uncertain due to a contract situation similar to Guehi. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk is on the wrong side of 30. So, Guehi is a viable target for Liverpool.
However, Liverpool would prefer to sign the 25-year-old Englishman in the summer transfer window. That leaves Manchester City in an advantageous position, with the Citizens ready to offer £15-20 million to secure his services this month. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the English international.
