Liam Rosenior interested in Kim Min-jae, Chelsea line up €25-30 million bid

Cardiff City vs Chelsea: Preview and Prediction ahead of their EFL Cup quarter final tie on Tuesday night.

Chelsea are preparing a €25-30 million bid to sign Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae on new manager Liam Rosenior’s request.

Liam Rosenior, who has just replaced Enzo Maresca on the Chelsea bench, is desperate to bolster his backline in the ongoing transfer window. According to a report from Fichajes, the former RC Strasbourg manager is keen on bringing Kim Min-jae to the London club.

Kim’s future has been a massive talking point for some time, and he could finally end up leaving Bayern Munich this month. The South Korean international could be heading to the Premier League, as Chelsea are pushing hard to secure his services.

The 29-year-old made quite a name for himself with his impressive performances for Napoli. On the back of it, the German giants signed him in the summer of 2023. While he was an integral part of their plans in the initial years, he has gone down the pecking order of late.

Kim has been involved in 17 matches across competitions this season, but he has racked up less than 800 minutes of first-team action. Since he no longer has a prominent role at Bayern, multiple top clubs are ready to prise him away.

Chelsea want to sign Kim in January

While his contract runs until the summer of 2028, the German club are open to a potential departure as long as they get a reasonable fee. Chelsea have emerged as a potential destination for the 29-year-old.

While the Blues tend to sign young players with massive potential, they could actually go after Kim on Rosenior’s request. The new Chelsea boss wants a reliable figure at the back, someone with experience at the highest level, and the South Korean certainly fits the bill.

Not only will he bolster their backline, but his experience will also help those around him. The Blues are gearing up to make a €25-30 million bid to sign the former Napoli star. Rosenior is confident that he will have an immediate impact and the player will certainly be interested in a move to London, where he could have a much prominent role.
