Leeds United well positioned to sign Axel Disasi

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign Chelsea flop Axel Disasi in the ongoing transfer window.

After a disappointing first half of the season, Daniel Farke’s Leeds United are looking at the winter transfer window as an opportunity to reinforce their squad. They want to bolster their backline on a priority basis to increase their chances of surviving the drop.

The Yorkshire-based outfit are keen on acquiring the services of Chelsea outcast Axel Disasi. According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds are very well-positioned to sign the French defender, as they are already in advanced talks with the London club.

After making a name for himself at AS Monaco, Disasi joined the Blues in the summer of 2023. While he was an integral part of their plans in the initial years, he slowly went down the pecking order and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

Following his return to Stamford Bridge last summer, Chelsea tried to get him off their books but failed to find him a new club. While he ended up staying at the club, he was no longer in Enzo Maresca’s plans and was left out of all the squads.

While Maresca is no longer at the club, Disasi still has no chance of reviving his Chelsea career. While his contract there runs until the summer of 2029, the Blues are very keen to get him off their books.

Leeds United to sign Disasi in January

Leeds United have emerged as a potential destination for the 27-year-old. While things haven’t worked out for him at Stamford Bridge, Farke is convinced that he could help his team survive the drop. Despite the fact that he hasn’t played a single minute this season, he is willing to bet on the French centre-back.

Chelsea remain open to a loan move as well as a permanent departure. With Joe Rodon out injured, Leeds feel Disasi’s arrival could certainly help their cause. They are already in advanced talks with the London club to get a deal over the line. The report suggests the move is very likely to go through before the winter window deadline.
