Chelsea want to sell Leo Castledine in January, Watford keen

Chelsea are ready to sell 21-year-old on-loan striker Leo Castledine this month, with Watford interested in securing his services.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are ready to consider offers for Leo Castledine this month as they ponder recalling the striker from his loan and selling him. The 21-year-old is having a goal-laden campaign while on loan at League One outfit Huddersfield Town, as Watford are interested in signing him.

Chelsea have a massive loan system, which has enabled the club to send out many promising prospects to other clubs to gain experience. That list includes 21-year-old striker Leo Castledine, who is shining in his loan spell at Huddersfield Town, where he has 17 goal contributions this season.

The Blues have a recall clause active in the first two weeks of the January transfer window, something Chelsea are planning to exercise and then sell the striker permanently. The West Londoners are set to demand £1 million for the attacker, and Huddersfield might be dealt a blow by the decision to recall the striker.

Watford are the ones interested in signing the striker, as they are eager to keep progressing this season. The Hornets are likely to open talks with Chelsea for Leo Castledine, and view the youngster as an essential piece to their squad for the remainder of the season and the future.

Castledine’s contract at Chelsea ends in 2027, and they feel the £1 million asking price might be good value for the player in the current situation. It remains to be seen whether Watford are willing to pay as much for the 21-year-old, as they might need a new attacker or two this month.

Watford to sign Leo Castledine?

Watford are sweating on the futures of a few key attackers, while they have already seen promising defender Max Alleyne, after Manchester City recalled him from his loan spell. There are rumours of Crystal Palace’s interest in attacker Rocco Vata, as losing him could be a bitter blow for the Hornets in their quest to keep close to the playoff berth.

There’s also widespread interest in Moroccan attacker Othmane Maamma, as losing either him or Vata could be a bitter blow to their season’s objectives. Irrespective of whether those two leave, Watford are now keen to sign a promising attacker like Leo Castledine, as he becomes available this month.
