Omar Marmoush wants Manchester City stay amid Tottenham links

Tottenham have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of 26-year-old Manchester City attacking sensation Omar Marmoush.

Omar Marmoush’s future has been a big talking point in recent weeks as the Egyptian international hasn’t had enough game time at Manchester City this season. Clubs in England are looking to make the most out of it.

Tottenham are one of the clubs that are very keen on signing the former Eintracht Frankfurt. But according to a report from Football Insider, the North London club have received a massive setback in their pursuit as Marmoush wants to continue under Pep Guardiola for now.

After making quite a name for himself while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, Manchester City acquired his services at the start of 2025 in a deal worth £59 million. The 26-year-old forward had quite an important role in the team in the second half of last season.

However, a lot has changed this time around, as the 26-year-old has only racked up 389 minutes of first-team action in his 15 outings. He is clearly not happy with his role in the team. While Marmoush is currently away on international duty for Egypt, his future has become a massive talking point.

Mick Brown on Omar Marmoush’s future

While speaking about his future, Brown said, “Tottenham are interested in signing Marmoush. It’s a deal that would suit Tottenham, but I don’t know whether it would suit the player. It would get him more regular game time, which of course would be a benefit, but he will feel he still has a part to play at Man City.

“He did really well when he first started there, and yes Foden has come back into form and they’ve added Cherki so the team has gone on again, but he still has a role. Whether he would want to leave City, with the chance of winning silverware and taking part in a title race, to join an inconsistent Tottenham side is doubtful.

“They’re having fingers pointed at them from all directions, the fans aren’t happy, results haven’t been good enough, so would Marmoush swap City for that? I don’t think so. There are definite doubts about the move from his side of things, so they might need to look elsewhere if they want to strengthen.”

Tottenham are unlikely to get Marmoush

Tottenham, who are keen on attacking reinforcement, after a disappointing start to the season, have Omar Marmoush quite high on their wishlist. With Randal Kolo Muani not having the desired impact and Dominic Solanke struggling to stay fit, Marmoush could be just the perfect signing for them.

While the player prefers playing up top, he can even feature on the flanks as well as a number ten. Spurs have been making plans to sign the Egyptian forward. But it seems they are unlikely to get their hands on him. The 26-year-old would prefer to stay at City and fight for his place in the team rather than join a struggling Tottenham outfit.

Marmoush will certainly have more game time at the North London club, but he might not want to leave a team that is fighting for major silverware to join a team that is still getting used to Thomas Frank’s ideas.
