Brennan Johnson set to complete Crystal Palace switch

Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson is reportedly on the verge of joining Crystal Palace in a deal worth £33.5 million on Friday.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Brennan Johnson transfer story will culminate on Friday. The Tottenham Hotspur attacker is on the cusp of joining Crystal Palace, and he will undergo the second and final part of his medical tests before sealing the switch.

An earlier update by Fabrizio Romano revealed more details, as Crystal Palace will pay £33.5 million to Tottenham after Johnson agreed to move to Selhurst Park after approving the personal terms. The Eagles view the Welshman as an “important signing for long term project” after bolstering their offensive unit.

How has Brennan Johnson fared at Tottenham?

Brennan Johnson has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Nottingham Forest in September 2023. Born in Nottingham, the 24-year-old spent his formative years in England and graduated from the youth division at the Midlands club after joining them as an eight-year-old.

The Welsh international has been in and out of the starting lineup at Tottenham, with his stature reducing in the 2025/26 season. Johnson has managed only 912 minutes of game time across 22 appearances this term while chipping in with four goals. However, the player’s stock remains high, as Crystal Palace chased his signature heading into the winter transfer window.

Move across London on the cards

Crystal Palace’s interest in Brennan Johnson has been understandable. The Eagles have been scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the winter transfer window, as they are yet to fill Eberechi Eze’s void since his departure this past summer. While Yeremy Pino has been impressive in the first half of the 2025/26 season, Oliver Glasner can do with more firepower in the final third.

Additionally, the 2024/25 FA Cup winners are missing Ismaila Sarr due to his participation at the Africa Cup of Nations. So, Johnson emerged as a viable target, while Tottenham had no qualms about sanctioning his departure in the winter transfer window. The player is now on the cusp of joining Crystal Palace in a deal worth £33.5 million.

While other Premier League clubs were also keen on signing Johnson, he has agreed to join Crystal Palace. The 24-year-old Welsh international will complete his medical tests on Friday before sealing the switch. So, he will be available for Crystal Palace’s next Premier League game when they take on Newcastle United on Sunday.
