Brennan Johnson poised to undergo Crystal Palace medical

Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson is reportedly on the verge of joining Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, Brennan Johnson could soon officially be a Crystal Palace player, as he is expected to undergo a medical at Selhurst Park within the next 24 hours. The Eagles have already reached an agreement with Tottenham regarding the fee and are hoping to have him in their squad for the game against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Johnson came up the ranks at Nottingham Forest and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team. On the back of his impressive performances, Tottenham forked out £47.5 million to sign him back in 2023.

The 24-year-old was an instant hit at the North London club. He was one of their standout performers last season, as he bagged 18 goals and seven assists in 51 outings. The Welsh international even bagged the winner in the Europa League final against Manchester United.

While everything was going for Brennan Johnson at Spurs, the arrival of Thomas Frank last summer has changed things up. Johnson seems to have gone down the pecking order under the former Brentford boss. While he has been involved in 21 matches, he has only racked up 907 minutes.

Since the 24-year-old was no longer an important part of their plans, Spurs were ready to cash in on him, and Crystal Palace emerged as a potential destination. While there was no shortage of interest, the Eagles were the most serious suitors from the start.

Brennan Johnson set to play for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have been keen on adding more firepower on the flanks and considered the Welsh international a perfect fit for their project thanks to his Premier League experience and age. After long-drawn negotiations, they have agreed on a £35 million deal with Spurs.

The report suggests the funds raised will help the North London club settle the debt they owe to Nottingham Forest for signing Brennan Johnson back in 2023. It will also make room for a potential winter signing. The Eagles are looking to ensure he has his medical within the next 24 hours and is a part of their matchday squad for the game against the Magpies.
