Tottenham are ready to fork out a massive fee to beat Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid to Adam Wharton’s signature.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are keen on acquiring the services of Adam Wharton, and they have stepped up their pursuit of the Crystal Palace midfielder. The North London club are willing to make a significant offer to beat Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid to his signature.
Wharton came up the ranks and made a name for himself while playing for Blackburn’s first team before joining the Eagles at the start of 2024. Not only has he established himself as one of the mainstays at Selhurst Park, but he has also broken into the England national team with his impressive performances.
The 21-year-old prefers playing in the defensive role, but is capable enough to feature in more advanced roles as well. While his contract at Palace runs until the summer of 2029, his consistent performances have resulted in a lot of interest in him.
European giants to battle for Wharton
Spurs have a long-standing interest in him and have tried to strike a deal for him back in the day. However, Palace had no intentions of negotiating his departure. Even Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on him ahead of a potential.
All four clubs have retained interest in the 21-year-old, and at this point, Tottenham seems to be the most serious suitor. They have already stepped up their efforts to sign him, and are well aware that they need to act quickly if they want to win the race for his signature.
While Palace ended up losing 1-0 to Spurs on Sunday, Wharton once again delivered a top-notch performance. The North London club now have complete confidence about him being the right guy for their project.
The Eagles are reluctant to lose Wharton, amidst uncertainty around Oliver Glasner and Marc Guehi’s future. However, there is an acceptance that he would be allowed to leave if the right offer arrives.
The 21-year-old is at the top of Spurs’ wishlist for 2026, and they are ready to break the bank for him. While signing him in January seems next to impossible, they are ready to lay the groundwork for a summer move.
