Antoine Semenyo representatives step up efforts to finalise Manchester City transfer, but Liverpool, Manchester United yet to give up

Anroine Semenyo’s representatives are working in full swing to finalise contract terms with Manchester City, although Liverpool and Manchester United are yet to be ruled out.

According to Sky Sports, Antoine Semenyo’s representatives are stepping up towards finalising contractual terms with Manchester City. The Bournemouth forward remains the favourite to land at the Etihad, although Liverpool and Manchester United are yet to be ruled out completely from the race.

Manchester City are seen as the clear favourites to sign Antoine Semenyo ahead of the next few days, as the Bournemouth forward is all set to make a big switch. The attacker has been one of the most in-form stars of this season in the Premier League, as interest in his services accelerated once the presence of a £65 million release clause was revealed.

Liverpool held talks with the forward early on, while Manchester United are also very much interested in signing the Bournemouth star. The fact that the latter cannot offer Champions League football could have proved to be a huge factor in Semenyo not leaning towards a switch to Old Trafford, as Liverpool are still considered part of the running by some corners.

As per another report on Sky Sports, Liverpool and Manchester United are yet to be completely ruled out of the race despite Manchester City being labelled as the favourites. The story states that the fact that a deal with Manchester City is yet to be agreed signals that Semenyo is probably considering other offers.

Liverpool are somewhat short in the attacking third, after a disastrous start to the season, and the Alexander Isak injury makes the need for a new attacking signing necessary. Manchester United have lost two of their key attackers to the AFCON, and while they are bound to return soon, the interest in Semenyo is seen as a measure to keep building their squad.

Are Manchester City still the favourites for Semenyo?

As it stands, Semenyo’s representatives are accelerating talks with Manchester City over his contract and are eager to finalise the deal with the club. Semenyo reportedly wants to wrap up the move by January 1, meaning it could be a matter of time before things are finalised in the background.

While Manchester City are seen as the overwhelming favourites, there could be a hint in Andoni Iraola’s selection ahead of the next game this week. Overall, Semenyo is likely to wear a Manchester City shirt next as he might have played his last game for the Cherries.
