AS Roma are keeping tabs on Manchester City outcast Jack Grealish, as they look to beat Everton to his signature.
According to a report from AsRomaLive, Jack Grealish could end up making a move to Italy, as giants AS Roma are quite keen on his signature. The Serie A outfit are closely monitoring his situation and are set to rival Everton in their pursuit of the English international.
Grealish made a name for himself at Aston Villa before joining Manchester City in the summer of 2021. While he was an integral part of their first team in the initial years, things haven’t been that great for him in recent seasons.
He only got limited game time under Pep Guardiola last season. Since he was no longer an important part of their plans, the 30-year-old winger ended up joining Everton on a season-long loan.
Grealish was off to a flying start at his new club as he contributed towards four goals in his first three league outings. However, he hasn’t been consistent enough and has failed to replicate those performances in recent months.
Everton do have an option to make the move permanent for £50 million. While reports have suggested that they are keen on securing his services permanently, the Toffees are not certain about triggering the buy option. They do not see it as a good value for money signing.
The Merseyside club do not intend to fork out £50 million on a 30-year-old, who isn’t going to get any better. Apart from the transfer fee, his massive wages are also a touch on the higher side for Everton.
As a result, Grealish is very unlikely to continue at the club beyond this season. While he is set to return to his parent club, he doesn’t have a future under Guardiola. The English winger is expected to be available next summer, and AS Roma have emerged as a potential destination.
Roma are keen on signing Grealish
The Italian giants are set to rival Everton in their pursuit. They are willing to do everything in their power to beat the Merseyside club. The Friedkins are well aware of his signature and seem quite keen on bringing him to Serie A. They continue to monitor him ahead of a potential transfer.
Roma, who are currently pushing for the league title, are believed to be massive admirers of the youngster. With Everton uncertain about signing him permanently, the Italian giants do have a big opportunity to secure his services ahead of next season.
