Manchester United face frustration in Yan Diomande chase

RB Leipzig attacking sensation Yan Diomande will not leave the Bundesliga club in the winter transfer window amid his links with Manchester United.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Yan Diomande is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the winter transfer window. So, the 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger has emerged as a target for the Premier League outfit.

Manchester United wanted to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in the coming weeks. However, the latest reports have revealed that the Ghanaian international wants to join Manchester City, compelling United to turn to Diomande. However, the Ivorian will not leave RB Leipzig in the winter transfer window, thus dealing another blow to the Red Devils.

Who is Yan Diomande?

Yan Diomande has established himself as one of the most promising young prospects in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from CD Leganes this past summer. The Abidjan native spent most of his formative years thus far in the USA before moving to Spain earlier this year. However, the youngster’s spell with CD Leganes ended after only six months, and he has made his mark quickly for RB Leipzig.

The 19-year-old has been one of the most productive attackers for the Bundesliga club this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 16 appearances in all competitions thus far. Meanwhile, his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several prominent figures in the Premier League. Manchester United will be among the prospective suitors vying for the Ivory Coast international next year.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Manchester United’s interest in Yan Diomande makes sense. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a versatile wide attacker, as Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo are unavailable due to their participation at the Africa Cup of Nations. That has left Ruben Amorim short of quality options in the final third, with the situation worsening after Mason Mount picked up an injury in the game against Newcastle United this week.

Additionally, a pacey wide attacker can be an option worth considering for the wing-back slots. So, Antoine Semenyo emerged as the top target for Manchester United heading into the winter transfer window. However, with the Ghanaian international pushing to join Manchester City in the coming weeks, the Red Devils must look elsewhere.

However, while Diomande has emerged as an alternative, the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international will not leave RB Leipzig in the winter transfer window. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the young winger and if Manchester United return for him in the summer.
