Chelsea are reportedly not certain about paying €100 million to sign RB Leipzig’s teenage attacking sensation Yan Diomande.

Chelsea were willing to go all out to sign Antoine Semenyo in the upcoming transfer window. The Bournemouth star was a priority target for the Blues, but they have now formally withdrawn from the race ever since it became clear that he is closing in on a move to Manchester City.

While they are not looking to make any reactive move in the transfer window, they do have some plans to further bolster their attack. According to a report from Caught Offside, the West London club are interested in acquiring the services of Yan Diomande. However, they are hesitant to pay in excess of €100 million for the RB Leipzig sensation.

Diomande has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Bundesliga club from CD Leganes last summer. In his 16 outings across competitions, the 19-year-old winger has seven goals and four assists.

Chelsea keen on Diomande, but won’t rush to sign him

Yan Diomande’s sensational start to life at RB Leipzig has not gone unnoticed, and multiple top clubs from across Europe are keen on his signature. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been keeping tabs on him for a while now. They were interested in his services even before he made the move to Leipzig, and they do retain interest in him.

While the Blues do not have any immediate plans to push for a top winger after missing out on Semenyo, as they already have Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens, Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer in attack, they do have eyes on a few young stars for the long run.

Diomande is seen as an ideal fit for their long-term plans. However, Leipzig’s valuation, which exceeds €100 million, makes a potential transfer very unlikely. The valuation has reinforced Chelsea’s decision not to overspend in the near future.

The West London club are expected to play the waiting game in their pursuit of Diomande. Since he only has limited experience at the highest level, the Blues want to be certain about his qualities before breaking the bank for him.
