Atletico Madrid want €40 million to sell Conor Gallagher, Manchester United also make calls for Elliot Anderson

Manchester United will have to fork out €40 million to sign Conor Gallagher, and they have also made moves for Chelsea target Elliot Anderson.

Manchester United are looking to add more quality to their midfield in the upcoming transfer window. Ruben Amorim seeks more depth and competition in the centre of the park, and Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson are quite high on their wishlist.

According to a report from Give Me Sport, Manchester United will have to fork out €40 million to sign the former Chelsea star. Meanwhile, they have also made calls to learn more about a potential transfer for Elliot Anderson, but he is unlikely to be on the move in January.

With Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, and Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term future uncertain and Bruno Fernandes sidelined with an injury, signing a new midfielder is a top priority for United ahead of the winter transfer window.

Manchester United will struggle to sign Elliot Anderson in January

Elliot Anderson is believed to be among their priority targets for the winter transfer window. They have already made initial contact with Nottingham Forest for the 23-year-old midfielder, who is enjoying a breakthrough season at City Ground.

The English international is on the wishlist of multiple top clubs, and Chelsea are one of them. The Blues consider him an ideal fit for their project, which revolves around signing the best young players. Given the competition for his signature, Manchester United are looking to move fast and strike a deal in January.

The Red Devils have already made calls, but they are still not expected to land him in the upcoming transfer window. The 23-year-old is expected to continue at Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.

Will Manchester United make a move for Conor Gallagher?

Manchester United could instead look at Conor Gallagher, who has been on their wishlist since last summer. They tried to secure his services on loan ahead of the ongoing season, but Atletico were not interested in a temporary departure.

Since joining Diego Simeone’s team from Chelsea, Gallagher has not been able to establish himself as a regular starter. As a result, he is very much open to a return to the English top flight.

Manchester United could return for his signature in January, with Atletico Madrid keeping the door open. However, they are still not interested in a loan move and want around €40 million to sell the 25-year-old, who is on a sizeable contract until June 2029. But the Red Devils might not be keen on a permanent move at this point.
