Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United vying for Honest Ahanor

A host of Premier League sides are showing serious interest in Atalanta’s teenage defender Honest Ahanor ahead of future windows.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all keen on exploring a move for Honest Ahanor. The Atalanta teenager has turned heads owing to his breakthrough season this time at Bergamo, as he could be a subject of a big bid.

Honest Ahanor is already making headlines in Italy owing to some mature performances for this Atalanta side. Often playing on the left side of a back three, the teenager is already seen as a future defensive leader at the Bergamo side, which has begun the process of attracting interest in the player.

Chelsea were keen back in the summer as they sought a young defender for their plans, but he joined Atalanta instead from Genoa. The Bergamo side did not sign Ahanor as a short-term solution and sell him very early in his career at the club, as they are keen to develop his talents and make the highly-rated 17-year-old Serie A defender one of the formidable defensive stars in the country.

However, there’s interest from Chelsea again, as he’s now seen a a mature player compared to how they envisaged him in the summer. The report states, the Blues are ready to launch an offer close to £60 million to seriously test Atalanta’s resolve on a player they acquired only in the summer.

Chelsea are not alone, as Arsenal and Manchester United are also in the race for the left-footed centre-back. The Gunners have shown plenty of promise in bringing top defensive talents to the club, and will continue to look for options in the market. As for the Red Devils, should they continue this formation with a back three for the long haul, they might see Ahanor fit their ideas in the longer term.

Will Atalanta sell Honest Ahanor?

Atalanta have been revered for developing top defensive talents in the recent past, and Ahanor has big potential in that regard. The fact that they invested heavily in the former Genoa player signifies their intention to develop his talents at the club rather than selling him on for profit.

However, should the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United make a big offer to test Atalanta’s resolve? It will certainly take a premium price to convince the Italians to let go of the highly-rated 17-year-old Serie A defender, but they may not be in the mood to make that happen in January.
