Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club in recent months.
As per a report by Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Serie A club AS Roma are interested in signing Joshua Zirkzee, and they have offered to sign on loan with an option to buy, with the package reaching €40 million in total. The proposal includes a loan fee worth €5 million with a €30 million purchase option and €5 million in bonuses if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester United are demanding around €50 million to sell the player who arrived under former manager Erik ten Hag. The move has clearly not worked out. The player has struggled in the Premier League, and he has not been able to hit top form. It is ideal for Manchester United to cash in on the player.
Manchester United have already signed Benjamin Sesko at the start of the season, and they could use the funds from the departure of the Netherlands international to improve the team further in the coming months. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to accept the proposal from the Italian club.
Roma move would be ideal for Zirkzee
The Dutch striker played his best football in Italy with Bologna, and returning to Italy would be ideal for him. He might be able to regain his form and confidence in his comfort zone. With the World Cup coming up in 2026, he will want to cement his place in the Netherlands set-up. The Dutchman needs to play regularly at the club level for that to happen.
The opportunity to move to AS Roma would be ideal for him. Widespread reports have suggested that the situation is win-win for Manchester United irrespective of whether Zirkzee remains at Old Trafford or moves to Stadio Olimpico.
Meanwhile, the Italian outfit are looking to add more quality and depth to their attacking unit. Signing the 24-year-old could be ideal for them as well. Zirkzee knows the league well, and he will be able to make an immediate impact. He could be an asset for the club if he manages to hit the ground running.
The player will be desperate to get his career back on track, and his hunger to succeed will be an added bonus. €40 million is a substantial amount of money for a player who has not been at his best for a long time. It would be wise of Manchester United to accept the offer and get the deal across the line.
