Intermediaries have reportedly offered West Ham United the opportunity to sign 28-year-old Ukrainian international Artem Dovbyk from Serie A club AS Roma in January.
According to a report by Il Tempo, as relayed by Voce Giallorossi, West Ham United will have the opportunity to sign Artem Dovbyk in the winter transfer window. Intermediaries have offered the East London outfit the chance to sign the struggling AS Roma striker in the coming weeks.
AS Roma will dip into the market for a striker in the winter transfer window, as they are scouring the market for a striker. The Serie A title hopefuls are interested in Joshua Zirkzee and Giacomo Raspadori. So, they are ready to part ways with Dovbyk in the coming weeks, and a move to the Premier League may be on the cards.
How has Artem Dovbyk fared at AS Roma?
Artem Dovbyk has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AS Roma from Girona in August 2024. The 28-year-old arrived at Stadio Olimpico amid hype and fanfare surrounding him after playing an integral role in Girona’s shock UEFA Champions League qualification in the 2023/24 season. However, he has not been as influential for the Serie A club in the last 18 months.
The Ukrainian international was decent in his debut season but has managed only 564 minutes of game time in 14 appearances this term, chipping in with two goals and two assists. So, a winter move away from AS Roma is on the cards, with intermediaries offering his services with West Ham United.
London calling?
West Ham United wanted to sign Artem Dovbyk in the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialise. While the Hammers have not revived their interest in the former Girona striker, he is an option worth considering, as Niclas Fullkrug has no future at the London Stadium.
The German international is closing in on joining AC Milan in the winter transfer window. Additionally, Callum Wilson is not dependable enough to last an entire season due to his well-known fitness woes. So, West Ham must sign a striker in the coming weeks, with Dovbyk a viable option.
With AS Roma ready to sign a striker in the winter transfer window, Dovbyk must depart from Stadio Olimpico to resurrect his stuttering fortunes. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 28-year-old Ukrainian international.
