Manchester City join Liverpool in Marc Guehi race

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi next year.

A report from The Times has stated Manchester City will compete with Liverpool for 25-year-old Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. The player was very close to joining Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but the move did not work out.

He will be out of contract in the summer of 2026, and multiple clubs are monitoring his situation. Manchester City need more quality and depth in the defensive unit, and signing the 25-year-old would be ideal.

The Englishman would be an upgrade on players like John Stones and Nathan Ake. Signing a player of his quality on a free transfer would be a masterstroke from Pep Guardiola and his team. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Liverpool keen on Guehi

Liverpool are keen on signing Marc Guehi as well, and they need him to replace Ibrahima Konate. The French international will be out of contract, so Liverpool must find a quality replacement for him. The 25-year-old has shown his quality in the Premier League, and he helped Crystal Palace win the FA Cup and the Community Shield recently.

The English international is the captain of the South London club, and he has proven himself with the England national team as well. There is no doubt that he is good enough to play for the biggest clubs in the world, and he could transform Liverpool or Manchester City.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester City or Liverpool decide to come forward with a nominal offer to sign the player in January. They could wait until the summer to sign him for free as well.

However, there is likely to be a lot of competition for his signature, and it would make sense for the clubs to make their move in January and secure his signature. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. Guehi will want to join a big club where he will be able to fight for major trophies. Both clubs could be attractive destinations for him.
