AC Milan rival Newcastle United, West Ham United in Axel Disasi race

AC Milan are the latest team to enter the race for Chelsea misfit Axel Disasi, with Newcastle United and West Ham United also interested.

According to Ekrem Konur, AC Milan are ready to rival the likes of Newcastle United and West Ham United in the chase of Axel Disasi. The 27-year-old Chelsea misfit is determined to leave the Londoners this January in search of regular first-team football after being frozen out of Enzo Marseca’s plans.

The plight of Axel Disasi has been well documented after he was frozen out of Enzo Maresca’s plans at the start of the season. The French defender, alongside Raheem Sterling, forms a so-called ‘bomb squad’ at Cobham, which has come in for some criticism as they are not involved in first-team activities.

There’s no news on Sterling’s immediate future, but Disasi continues to attract big attention of clubs ahead of the January window. Chelsea were in talks with Lyon earlier, but things have cooled in that regard since, while Borussia Dortmund are keen on the defender.

Newcastle United and West Ham were also linked with a move ahead of January, with the Premier League duo now considered as serious contenders for the 27-year-old Chelsea misfit. The choice to stay in England could see the Frenchman move to either of those clubs if at all, a viable offer arrives, which does allow the player another chance at proving his worth in the English top flight.

A move to West Ham could offer the 27-year-old a chance to continue with life in London, while a switch to Newcastle United would appear to be a new challenge. Aston Villa took him on loan last January, as there have been reports that they are still interested, although there are no concrete links to prove that being the case.

AC Milan to explore Axel Disasi move?

AC Milan are the latest name in the mix for the 27-year-old Chelsea misfit, as the Rossoneri are ready to explore a move for the French defender. The Italian giants are ready to challenge for the Serie A title this season, and could look into the market for key defensive reinforcements to strengthen their cause.

The potential availability of Disasi does appeal to them, as the 27-year-old Chelsea misfit may even be made available on a cut-price deal. It remains to be seen how Milan plans to approach Disasi, as it might be a loan deal or a permanent transfer to help Disasi escape his Chelsea misery.
