Chelsea’s ownership group BlueCo have agreed a deal to sign promising teenager Muhammad Zongo and plans on sending him to Strasbourg.
According to Fabrizio Romano, BlueCo group have agreed a deal to sign Muhammad Zongo from the Burkina Faso side SF Cascades. The Chelsea ownership had scouted the attacking talent at the U-17 World Cup in Qatar, as they might have beaten off competition for the signature of the teenager, as they have already made plans for his immediate future.
Top Premier League sides were present at the recent U-17 World Cup held in Qatar to scout promising young talents. Manchester United were in the news on plenty of occasions with links to numerous young stars at the grand event, but it appears Chelsea have made the first move to sign one of the talents present at the tournament.
Chelsea’s ownership, BlueCo group, have secured an agreement with Burkina Faso side SF Cascades for their teenage sensation Muhammad Zongo. The 16-year-old African prodigy is an attacking midfielder by trade, but could also operate on the wings, which makes him a top talent to develop at the club of choice of the BlueCo group.
Chelsea were pushing to get a deal in place for Zongo amid big interest from elsewhere. The Blues have been in the market for the best talents over the last few years, especially under the reign of the BlueCo group, which has seen a host of young talents arrive at the club to be developed.
Manchester United and Manchester City had scouted Zongo as part of their efforts at the U-17 World Cup, although it is the BlueCo group that have won the race. The finer details are yet to emerge, such as the transfer fee and when the 16-year-old African prodigy might arrive at one of the BlueCo group clubs in Europe, but he does appear to be someone the group is eager to develop for the future.
What are BlueCo’s plans for Muhammad Zongo?
The BlueCo group have already made plans, as they do not view Chelsea as Zongo’s first destination, as they might seek a move to Stamford Bridge in the future. At the moment, they are planning on sending the 16-year-old African prodigy to French side and Chelsea’s sister club, Strasbourg.
Strasbourg have been a thriving ground for some of the BlueCo signings to develop in a better way. Some of them have made the move to Chelsea, while others have been sold on for a profit to other teams, as the overall operation have been quite successful.
