Liverpool and Manchester City are closing in on the signature of Manchester United attacking target Antoine Semenyo.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Antoine Semenyo seems set to join an English giant in the upcoming transfer window as he has agreed personal terms with Liverpool and Manchester City. Both clubs are clearly ahead of Manchester United in the race for his signature.
Semenyo has only gone from strength to strength since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City at the start of 2023. Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best wingers in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old has been on fire in the ongoing campaign as he has six goals and three assists in his 14 league outings. His performances have placed him on the radar of the biggest clubs in England that seek more quality on the flanks. While he prefers playing out wide on the right, Antoine Semenyo is equally effective on both flanks.
Premier League trio keen on signing Semenyo
Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United are three clubs that seem to be quite serious about their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo. The Reds see the Ghanaian international as an ideal long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. Manchester City feel he could be just the perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s team, that are undergoing a transition.
While Manchester United forked out a fortune to reinforce their attack during the summer, they still seek more quality on the flanks, and given Semenyo’s Premier League experience, they consider him a perfect fit for their project. The Red Devils are keen on his signature, but they seem to be behind the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, who have already agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old.
Liverpool and City battle for Antoine Semenyo’s signature
Manchester City already had an agreement in place with the winger over a winter move, and they seem set to trigger his release clause. Liverpool have made decisive moves in recent days, as they have matched that offer and are also seem ready to pay the £65 million required to get him out of Bournemouth.
Semenyo now has a big decision to make as he could either choose to join a struggling Liverpool team and help them bounce back, or he could join Guardiola’s men, who have started to regain momentum after a disappointing campaign last time out. The release clause expires before the 10th of January; as a result, it is a race against time for both the English giants.
