Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Ivory Coast Yan Diomande from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.
Yan Diomande has attracted the attention of Arsenal and Manchester City as well. According to a report by TEAMtalk, Liverpool are now intensifying their efforts to sign the 19-year-old attacker from RB Leipzig.
The Ivorian wonderkid will cost around €100 million. Diomande has the potential to develop into a quality Premier League attacker with the right guidance, and he could be the ideal long-term replacement for club legend Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian has been linked with the move away from the club in recent days. The player recently dropped a bombshell interview, claiming that his relationship with the Liverpool manager Arne Slot is damaged beyond repair and that he is being forced out of the club. He has also cast doubts regarding his future at the club after AFCON.
Liverpool must start planning for a future without Salah, and Diomande would be a solid long-term investment for them. He is a young player with a lot of potential. Liverpool have done well to groom young players, and they could bring out the best in the RB Leipzig prodigy. It will be interesting to see if they can agree on a deal with the Bundesliga outfit.
€100 million is a lot of money for a young player like him, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool are prepared to pay up. If Liverpool agree to pay the asking price, the deal should be straightforward for them.
The Ivory Coast international is unlikely to need a lot of convincing to join the English club. It would be a major opportunity for the youngster, and he will look to fight for major trophies with them in England. Regular football in the Premier League could help him improve further.
Arsenal and Man City also eyeing Diomande
Meanwhile, Arsenal need more quality on the flanks as well, and they have their sights set on Diomande. Leandro Trossard was linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window, and they might need to replace the Belgian international in the coming months.
The 19-year-old could be the ideal option for them. However, spending €100 million on the player could be difficult for them, especially with the way they have been spending in recent windows. As for Manchester City, they need another quality wide player to support Savinho and Jeremy Doku. It will be interesting to see where Diomande ends up.
