Leeds United may miss out on 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara in the winter transfer window due to budgetary issues.
According to a report by Football Insider, Gabriel Sara is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are eager to bolster their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 26-year-old Galatasaray midfielder has emerged as a target for the West Yorkshire outfit.
Recent reports have claimed that the 2024/25 EFL Championship winners are ready to approach the Turkish Super Lig champions over a possible move in the winter transfer window. However, a deal may not materialise, even though he will cost only £17.5 million, as Leeds United may not have the budget for signings in the winter transfer window.
How has Gabriel Sara fared at Galatasaray?
Gabriel Sara has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Galatasaray from Norwich City last year. The 26-year-old did not take long to settle down at the Turkish club, and he enjoyed a solid debut season with Cimbom. However, the situation has flipped in the 2025/26 campaign, as Ilkay Gundogan’s arrival has changed things.
The Brazilian midfielder has been in and out of the starting lineup this term, managing only 1,018 minutes of game time in 20 appearances across all competitions. However, Sara’s stock in the market remains high after a solid 2025/26 season. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.
Will Sara return to England soon?
Gabriel Sara has been on Leeds United’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, even though the West Yorkshire outfit signed multiple midfielders in the summer transfer window. However, Anton Stach has been inconsistent, and Daniel Farke wants more options in the middle of the park.
Several candidates, including Jens Hjerto-Dahl, have thus emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Sara also a viable target. With the 26-year-old South American midfielder keen on resurrecting his fortunes by embarking on a new adventure, a winter return to England may have been on the cards.
However, Leeds United may not be able to secure Sara’s services due to budgetary constraints. While the Brazilian midfielder will cost only £17.5 million, Leeds United may not have the funds to afford a deal.
