Chelsea in talks with Lyon over Axel Disasi exit

Chelsea are in talks with French giants

Chelsea are looking to get Axel Disasi off their books in January, as he is no longer a part of their plans. According to a report from L’Equipe, the Blues are in talks with

Following his impressive performances at AS Monaco, Chelsea secured Disasi’s services in the summer of 2023. While he was an integral part of their plans in the initial years, he eventually lost his place in the team and ended up spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

Since he was no longer a part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, Chelsea tried to find him a new club in the summer, but things didn’t work out. The 27-year-old defender is not a part of their squad across competitions and has been forced to train with the reserves.

While his contract at the London club runs until the summer of 2029, the French defender is looking for a way out, and the Blues are also ready to cash in on him.

Lyon could make a move for Disasi

The Ligue 1 giants are in desperate need of a defender as two of their mainstays, Clinton Mata and Moussa Niakhaté, will be heading to the African Cup of Nations in a few days’ time. With the duo unavailable for around a month, Paulo Fonseca is keen on adding more quality to his backline.

They have been in talks with the London club regarding Disasi for the last few days. They are reportedly looking for a loan deal until the end of the season. Both the player and the Premier League club are ready for a temporary exit.

However, it is not yet certain if Lyon will come forward to make an offer, as they want someone who can straightaway feature in their XI. But Disasi might take sometime to get going as he hasn’t played any first-team football this season.
