Chelsea to send Mykhailo Mudryk to RC Strasbourg

Chelsea are considering sending Mykhailo Mudryk to sister club RC Strasbourg in January to rescue the Ukrainian’s career and their investment.

According to Fichajes, Mykhailo Mudryk could be sent to RC Strasbourg in a bid to rescue his career and protect Chelsea’s major investment in the winger. The Ukrainian has been serving a long suspension from the game owing to a doping ban, but as he nears a return to the pitch, a move to France might make sense for all parties concerned.

Mykhailo Mudryk was the subject of a big transfer battle back in the January window of 2023, as Chelsea were in a tussle with Arsenal. The latter were the clear favourites to land the Ukrainian winger, then performing very well at former side Shakhtar Donetsk, but Chelsea stole the march from under their rivals.

Arsenal went on to sign Leandro Trossard from Brighton instead, and in hindsight, the Belgian has been a far better acquisition compared to the Ukrainian. As for Mudryk, things have gone downhill since his high-profile move to Chelsea, which cost the Londoners in the region of €100 million or close to that.

Mudryk took his sweet time to adapt to the new league, and on an overall note, he had been largely underwhelming for the club. However, the major news came at the end of last year, when he was hit with a provisional doping ban for a prohibited substance, with the suspension reportedly set to end around January 17, 2026.

Mudryk even considered premature retirement as per rumours, although that may not be the case, as he might be ready to revive his career. Still only 24, the Ukrainian has a long career ahead, as Chelsea are making plans to help him aid his comeback as well as protect their investment to a certain degree.

What are Chelsea’s plans for Mudryk?

Chelsea are now considering sending Mudryk to sister club RC Strasbourg in an effort to aid the winger with his comeback into the game as well as protect their investment. Letting the player loose as he’s nearing a return to action might not be seen as viable, as the beleaguered attacker to France might make complete sense.

Strasbourg have been aiding Chelsea by developing some of their acquired talents, as they could make do with a player of Mudryk’s quality in their squad. It remains to be seen whether this deal is on loan or a permanent transfer, as there’s certainly no place for the beleaguered attacker in this Chelsea setup moving forward.
