Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United have reportedly fallen behind Manchester City in the race to sign 25-year-old Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.
According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Antoine Semenyo is the subject of interest from Manchester City. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also keen on signing the Bournemouth attacker, who will cost around £65 million. However, they have fallen behind Manchester City in the battle for the Ghanaian international’s signature, with the Citizens ready to trigger his release clause.
Antoine Semenyo and his meteoric rise
Antoine Semenyo has established himself as one of the most influential attackers in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023. The 25-year-old winger hit the ground running at the Vitality Stadium, and he has gone from strength to strength in the last three years.
The Ghanaian international has been hot off the blocks in the 2025/26 season, amassing six goals and three assists in 13 Premier League appearances thus far. Meanwhile, Semenyo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Arsenal.
A man in demand
The Ghanaian international has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as Mohamed Salah’s long-term future beyond the 2025/26 season is uncertain. Additionally, the veteran attacker is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. So, the Reds have identified the Bournemouth attacker as a long-term replacement for Salah.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Antoine Semenyo is understandable. The Red Devils reinforced their offensive unit by signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko in the summer transfer window. However, they need more firepower in January, as Mbeumo will leave for the Africa Cup of Nations. So, Semenyo is a viable target for Manchester United. As for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola wants more firepower in the final third despite having a stacked attack.
So, Semenyo is an option worth considering for Manchester City, and they are ready to trigger the release clause worth £65 million in his contract. As for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has a stacked attack in his squad. However, Leandro Trossard is on the wrong side of 30 and faces an uncertain future at the Emirates. So, Semenyo is a viable target for the left-wing berth.
Meanwhile, Semenyo has a January release clause of £65 million in his contract with Bournemouth. With Manchester City initiating the move to sign the London-born winger, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal have fallen behind in the race to sign him. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 25-year-old Ghanaian international.
