Tottenham face Chelsea, Manchester United threat in Gleison Bremer race

Tottenham are not alone in the race for Gleison Bremer as Chelsea and Manchester United will also be keen on the Juventus centre-back.

According to Caught Offside, Gleison Bremer could ensue a transfer battle between Premier League clubs. Tottenham are considered the most serious suitor at the moment, although the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United could also enter the race if the Juventus star becomes available.

Gleison Bremer has had his share of injury troubles since the start of last season, and even this term, he has made only five appearances for Juventus. Yet, the Brazilian has a soaring reputation of being one of the top centre-backs in Europe, and naturally, that has attracted a lot of attention from some of the top Premier League sides.

Tottenham are interested in a January move, as the club’s hierarchy will prioritise a defensive signing to shore up the backline ahead of the winter window. Thomas Frank has options to play around, such as Kevin Danso and Rady Dragusin, in addition to first-choice centre-backs Micky van de Ven and skipper Cristian Romero.

However, adding another big-name presence would be key to Tottenham’s chances in the second part of the season, given the competitions they are involved in. Bremer’s name has popped up multiple times in reports, although Spurs are unlikely to have a free run at the defender.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on the centre-back, with the two teams also in the market to shore up their backline. Juventus reportedly will demand at least £52 million for the Brazilian star, as only a top offer can make them even consider a sale in January.

Will Juventus entertain Gleison Bremer offers?

Juventus do have their share of financial troubles, as they may not be in a position to ignore a large enough offer for the £52 million-rated Serie A defender. They were uninterested in a sale back in the summer, but things could change in that regard. Moreover, Bremer might even be tempted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, and given his age, his chances of a big move to England might be ending in a few years.

Tottenham aside, Chelsea are in the market for a new centre-back to cover for Levi Colwill’s potential season-ending injury amid links to Nottingham Forest’s Murillo. Manchester United are in the market for a long-term successor to Harry Maguire, and given their previous interest in the £52 million-rated Serie A defender, they could be in the mix for Bremer if he does become available.
