Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly interested in signing 22-year-old French midfielder Soungoutou Magassa from West Ham United in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Il Mattino, as relayed by Calcio Napoli 24, Soungoutou Magassa is the subject of interest from Napoli. The Serie A giants are eager to bolster their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 22-year-old West Ham United prospect has emerged as a target for the Partenopei.
Meanwhile, the East London outfit will demand around €17 million to part ways with the Frenchman in the winter transfer window. However, Magassa is not Napoli’s priority target, as the Serie A champions are primarily keen on securing Kobbie Mainoo’s services in the coming weeks.
How has Soungoutou Magassa fared at Napoli?
Soungoutou Magassa has struggled to make his mark since joining West Ham United from AS Monaco in the summer transfer window. A native of Stains, the 21-year-old travelled around in his youth career, passing through the academies at FC Sucy, RC Joinville, Saint-Maur Lusitanos, and FC Gobelins before graduating from the youth division at AS Monaco.
The French midfield prospect rose in prominence during his spell with AS Monaco, but he has managed only 191 minutes of game time in six appearances thus far for West Ham. However, Magassa’s stock remains high, with Napoli among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.
Serie A move on the horizon?
Napoli’s interest in Soungoutou Magassa is understandable. The Serie A champions are scouring the market for a promising young midfielder heading into the winter transfer window, as Antonio Conte wants more options in the middle of the park for the second half of the 2025/26 season.
Several candidates, including Kobbie Mainoo, have thus emerged on Napoli’s radar, with the disgruntled Manchester United prodigy being the Italian club’s top target. While the opportunity to move to Napoli appeals to Mainoo, the Serie A giants have kept their options open, with Magassa being a viable alternative.
Meanwhile, West Ham will demand around €17 million to part ways with the 22-year-old French midfielder, making him an appealing target for Napoli. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Magassa, which depends on a possible move for Mainoo.
