Manchester United front-runners to sign Robinho Junior

Manchester United will reportedly look to sign 17-year-old Brazilian international Robinho Junior from Santos next year.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Robinho Junior is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on reinforcing their setup by signing a promising wonderkid next year. So, the 17-year-old Santos whizkid has emerged as a target for the struggling Premier League club.

The latest report has revealed that the Red Devils are the front-runners to secure the South American prodigy’s signature, having established preliminary contacts to “assess the terms of a possible transfer” to Old Trafford. With Manchester United ready to make a “strong push” for the youngster’s signature, a deal may be on the cards.

Who is Robinho Junior?

Robinho Junior is the latest promising prodigy to rise in prominence in his homeland. The son of iconic former striker Robinho, the 17-year-old wonderkid has spent his formative years thus far in Brazil, rising through the ranks at Santos FC and breaking into the legendary club’s first-team squad.

The Brazilian attacking sensation has already made 14 appearances thus far for Santos, chipping in with one assist. Meanwhile, the youngster’s exploits have helped him draw comparisons to Neymar due to the similarity in their playing styles. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester United.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Manchester United’s interest in Robinho Junior is understandable. The Red Devils never shy away from signing promising prodigies, and they have increasingly focused on recruiting youngsters from outside of England. South American prospects are recently arriving at Old Trafford, with Diego Leon joining Manchester United this year.

Additionally, Cristian Orozco is on the cusp of completing a move to Manchester United. So, it is hardly surprising that Robinho Junior has emerged as a target for the struggling Premier League giants. The latest update has revealed that the Red Devils have established preliminary contact over a possible move.

That has left Manchester United in pole position to sign the 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid, and they are making a “strong push” to secure his services. However, they are not alone in the race to sign the teenage sensation, as recent reports have also linked him with Chelsea and Liverpool.
