Manchester United and Manchester City are keen to bring Shamrock Rovers teenager Michael Noonan, whose contract expires next summer.
According to Ekrem Konur, Manchester United and Manchester City are vying for the signature of Michael Noonan, widely considered one of the hottest attacking prospects in Ireland. The Shamrock Rovers teenager is attracting plenty of interest following his impressive displays at the Under-17 World Cup, with Celtic also showing big interest.
Ireland has a good enough league system, but they are certainly dwarfed by those in England and Scotland at the moment. They have produced some top talents through their system, but those players are often subject to a departure to one of the clubs in those leagues.
Shamrock Rovers have a prospect on their hands in Michael Noonan, with the teenager now attracting big interest from the Premier League and the Scottish Premiership. The 17-year-old Irish wonderkid is already on the list of Celtic, with the Glasgow giants eager to take him on and improve his game through their development plan.
The teenager’s current deal expires at the end of the season, with Shamrock Rovers certainly keen to keep hold of him. However, the interest from the likes of Celtic, as well as Manchester United and Manchester City, could turn the 17-year-old Irish wonderkid’s head towards a switch to one of the top teams around.
Manchester City are keen as they always are with some of the prodigious talents from around, as Noonan is part of their thinking. The Manchester giants are eager to land him as they are part of the bunch watching him closely, particularly at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar. Pep Guardiola’s side were keen on him in the summer of 2024, and could sense an opportunity once again at the end of the current season.
Manchester United are keen on Michael Noonan
Manchester United scouts are also active at the Under-17 World Cup, as they have watched Brazilian striker Dell, as well as Moroccan forward Ziyad Baha, among a few more names. They appear to have scouted Noonan too, with the 17-year-old Irish wonderkid’s contractual situation offering a big route for the Red Devils to make their presence felt.
It remains to be seen whether the Manchester clubs can lure the teenager into England, or whether Celtic wins the race for the 17-year-old Irish wonderkid. As for his Shamrock Rovers’ future, Michael Noonan could potentially leave in light of the growing interest from elsewhere, with the Irish prospect rated very highly to come good in the future.
