Chelsea are set to accelerate their pursuit of Pablo Barrios, with Liverpool also thought to be interested in the Atletico Madrid midfield sensation.
According to Caught Offside, Pablo Barrios continued to attract the attention of top Premier League sides, with Chelsea and Liverpool thought to be in the mix. The Blues are ready to accelerate their pursuit of the 22-year-old Atletico Madrid star, with the Reds probably not in a state where they are currently pushing to get a deal in place.
Pablo Barrios has established himself as one of the top-rated young midfielders in Europe following some stellar performances for Atletico Madrid. Having signed a contract extension until 2023, the Spanish giants are in a powerful position to demand a significant fee for the midfielder, who is reportedly rated at around 90 million.
The €90 million-rated La Liga midfield sensation is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, as there’s a chance he could think about a switch. The Premier League’s big six remains an attractive option for most of the top players in the world, and the Spaniard will be tempted by the prospect.
Chelsea recently enquired about Barrios as they continue to look at various options in the market to shore up their midfield ranks. The Blues are probably looking at Barrios as a potential option to replace the injury-prone Romeo Lavia in the future, as Enzo Maresca would probably view the €90 million-rated La Liga midfield sensation in a midfield setting alongside Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
The Blues are also looking at Elliot Anderson in the role, as the Nottingham Forest star will be a costly acquisition. As for Barrios, Chelsea are ready to accelerate a move for the Atletico Madrid star in an attempt to bring one of the most talented midfielders in Spain and Europe.
Liverpool are not prioritising Pablo Barrios
With Chelsea ready to push for the signing of Barrios, Liverpool’s interest is not seen as anything urgent at the current moment. The Merseysiders could look at a potential new midfield signing in the defensive mould, but when it comes to Barrios and the profile he brings, they are only likely to make a move if one of Ryan Gravenberch or Real Madrid-linked Alexis Mac Allister departs in the near future.
As for Atletico Madrid, they are in a strong position to demand a significant fee for the €90 million-rated La Liga midfield sensation. The Spanish giants might reluctantly allow the player to leave, as they might be deterred by the likes of Liverpool or Chelsea should they show serious intent in the race for Barrios.
