Chelsea have reportedly enquired about Pablo Barrios and the potential to land the Spanish midfielder in the future.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea have made enquires for Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios. The Stamford Bridge outfit are ready to keep looking for some top young talents around, as they could be in the market for a new midfielder of the Spaniard’s kind.
Chelsea have shown relentlessness in their pursuit of top young talents across the globe. The Blues have an accomplished network of scouts looking at numerous talents from different regions, and have been signing many of those over the last few years.
The Blues have adopted a strategy of paying what is required for these young talents to either make them part of the future or sell them at a profit in a few years. Both those techniques have worked well in their favour, and now they are looking at a new midfield talent on the radar.
That said player is Atletico Madrid’s Pablo Barrios, with the 22-year-old La Liga star emerging as one of the key stars under Diego Simeone. The Spaniard has shown plenty of talent through his performances and a pedigree to be one of the top midfielders in the future.
Chelsea have enquired about the 22-year-old La Liga star, and have reportedly shown a willingness to make an offer in January. The move might stem from the fitness issues Romeo Lavia has faced since joining the club a few years ago, and he has never been fit for a string of games since. Barios could be the direct replacement for the Belgian in the team, but Atletico Madrid’s asking price could spell trouble.
Atletico Madrid are demanding €100 million for Pablo Barrios
Atletico Madrid are not ready to sell Barrios, and even if some clubs want him, they are set to demand €100 million for the midfielder. Bayern Munich reportedly were willing to pay €70 million, and Chelsea are also ready to fork out a similar sum, but that may not be enough to tempt the Spanish side into selling the 22-year-old La Liga star.
Barrios signed a new deal back in May of this year until 2030, which gives Atletico Madrid plenty of leeway in negotiations for the midfielder. Hence, they are not prepared to sell, unless teams like Chelsea are willing to stump up a nine-figure fee for the emerging star.
