Udinese will not entertain bids for Arthur Atta in January

Serie A club Udinese will not entertain any bids to part ways with 22-year-old French midfielder Arthur Atta in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Messaggero Veneto, Barcelona and Manchester City are keen on Arthur Atta. The two European bigwigs are eager to reinforce their first-team squads by signing a versatile midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Udinese prospect has emerged as a target for the high-profile duo.

Apart from Barcelona and Manchester City, AC Milan and Napoli are also keen on signing the Frenchman. However, Udinese will not entertain bids to part ways with Atta in the winter transfer window, and they will demand around €40 million to sell him next summer.

Who is Arthur Atta?

Arthur Atta has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Serie A since joining Udinese from FC Metz. The Rennes native spent his formative years in France, passing through the academies at Saint-Jacques FC and Stade Rennais before graduating from the youth division at FC Metz. Meanwhile, Udinese signed the 22-year-old on loan from FC Metz in August 2024 before completing a permanent move this past summer.

The French midfielder has made nearly 50 appearances thus far for Udinese while chipping in with two goals and two assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Barcelona and Manchester City are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

What next for Atta?

Barcelona’s interest in Arthur Atta makes sense. While Hansi Flick has a stacked midfield unit, the reigning La Liga champions may cash in on at least one homegrown player to balance their books and fund new arrivals next year. Several midfielders, including Ryan Gravenberch, have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar, with Atta also a viable target.

As for Manchester City, Rodri’s long-term future is uncertain, as the Spanish international has picked up another injury this season. Additionally, Bernardo Silva may not be at the Etihad after the 2025/26 campaign. So, Manchester City must sign at least one midfielder next year, with Atta being an option worth considering.

However, Barcelona and Manchester City must wait until next summer to land the 22-year-old Frenchman, as Udinese will not entertain any bids to part ways with him in the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, the Serie A club will demand around €40 million to sell Atta after the 2025/26 season ends. Meanwhile, Barcelona and Manchester City will face stiff competition from AC Milan and Napoli for his signature.
