Tottenham and Chelsea are both keen on acquiring the services of Juventus’ 2025 summer signing, Jonathan David.
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham and Chelsea are interested in signing Jonathan David. Both London clubs are closely monitoring his situation at Juventus and could pounce on any opportunity to secure his services.
After an impressive five-year spell at LOSC Lille, David joined the Italian giants on a free transfer in the summer after running down his deal at the French club. While he expected this to be the next step in his career, the move hasn’t really gone according to plan for him.
The Canadian international has been involved in 13 matches so far and has only managed to find the back of the net once. He hasn’t had the desired impact and has failed to nail down a starting spot in the team.
The future doesn’t look bright for the 25-year-old under new manager Luciano Spalletti, who is believed to be in favour of having Dusan Vlahovic lead his line going forward. With David going further down the pecking order, there is a possibility of him leaving the club in the upcoming transfer window.
Premier League giants are ready to push for David
He could be on his way out just six months after joining the Italian giants. Despite his poor form, Chelsea and Tottenham are two clubs that are interested in the Canadian striker. With Liam Delap struggling with injuries and Joao Pedro failing to make an instant impact, the Blues are looking for another number nine.
Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke is struggling to stay fit, and his physical condition has forced Thomas Frank to think about having another top striker in his squad. Both clubs are interested in David and see this as a great opportunity to snap up a top talent.
While his contract at Juventus runs until the summer of 2023, Juventus could look to sanction his departure, as it will represent significant financial profit. It will also free up significant wages as he earns €6 million per season. His departure could help Spalletti make some key additions to his squad mid-season.
