Liverpool line up winter move for Vitinha

Liverpool will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Portuguese international Vitinha from Paris Saint-Germain in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Vitinha is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain mainstay has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.

The Vila das Aves native will not come cheap, with PSG demanding around €90 million to part ways with him in the winter transfer window. The report has suggested that the Ligue 1 club’s valuation is “manageable” within Liverpool’s financial plan, and a January move may be on the cards.

Vitinha and his exploits for PSG

Vitinha has established himself as one of the world’s best midfielders since joining Paris Saint-Germain from FC Porto in July 2022. The 25-year-old spent his formative years in Portugal, starting his youth career at CB Póvoa Lanhoso before graduating from the youth division at FC Porto.

However, the player’s transformation was surprising, as he did not rise in prominence during a loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Meanwhile, the Portuguese international has made over 150 appearances thus far for PSG while chipping in with 21 goals and 20 assists. His progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Liverpool.

Premier League adventure on the horizon?

Liverpool’s interest in Vitinha is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a holding midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. While Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai have been exceptional in the middle of the park, Liverpool can do with a new defensive midfielder.

With Wataru Endo on the wrong side of 30, the new holding midfielder will be the Japanese international’s long-term replacement. Several candidates, including Eduardo Camavinga, have thus emerged on Liverpool’s radar, with Vitinha also a viable target for the Merseyside outfit.

The report has revealed that PSG will demand around €90 million to part ways with the 25-year-old Portuguese international. The Ligue 1 club’s valuation will not bother Liverpool, and a January move to Anfield may be on the cards for the PSG mainstay.
