West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old English international Ivan Toney from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Ivan Toney is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 29-year-old Al-Ahli centre-forward has emerged as a target for the East London outfit.
Ivan Toney and his career so far
Ivan Toney has been one of the most productive attackers in the Saudi Pro League since joining Al-Ahli from Brentford last year. The Englishman spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Northampton Town over a decade ago. However, he did not rise in prominence until the spell with Brentford began in 2020.
The 29-year-old made considerable progress during his spell with Brentford, establishing himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League. However, Toney’s spell with the West London club ended in August 2024, with Al-Ahli paying £40 million to secure his services.
The English international has been excellent thus far for Al-Ahli, making significant progress in the last 14 months. Toney has been hot off the blocks in the 2025/26 season, amassing eight goals and one assist in ten appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including West Ham United.
London return on the horizon?
West Ham United mulled over signing Ivan Toney before he joined Al-Ahli from Brentford, but the deal did not materialise. The continued interest is understandable, as the Hammers have not signed a striker who has been consistent in the final third.
With Niclas Fullkrug struggling to make his mark since arriving from Borussia Dortmund last year and Callum Wilson approaching the twilight of his career, West Ham must sign a new striker in the winter transfer window. Several candidates, including Joshua Zirkzee, have thus emerged on West Ham’s radar, with Toney also a viable target.
However, recent reports have linked the 29-year-old Englishman with other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Toney and if he is ready to return to the Premier League in the winter transfer window.
