Chelsea expected to agree Tyrique George sale before January window opens

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are expected to agree on the sale of teenage sensation Tyrique George before the January transfer window opens.

According to a report from Football Insider, Tyrique George could end up parting ways with Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window. The teenage attacking sensation is surplus to requirements under Enzo Maresca, and they could agree on his sale well before the start of the window.

George has come up the ranks at the West London club. He was promoted to their first team towards the end of 2024, and so far, the 19-year-old has featured in a total of 31 first-team games, and he has even contributed towards 10 goals.

While the teenage prospect certainly has massive potential, he is not an important part of Maresca’s plans. George has only been involved in five games in the new season, and the majority of his appearances have come off the bench.

George can feature anywhere across the attack, but Chelsea see him primarily as a winger; a position where they are already well stocked, with Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto, Jamie Gittens, and Alejandro Garnacho all ahead of him in the pecking order.

George to leave Chelsea in January

Despite his massive potential, Tyrique George is unlikely to have regular game time, which could hamper his growth as a player. As a result, George seems interested in a move away. Meanwhile, the Blues have also decided to listen to offers for the teenager heading into January.

There are chances that they could agree on a deal for his departure well in advance of the window. Fulham had enquired about him during the summer; they will certainly return for his signature. Crystal Palace are also in the mix, along with other Premier League and Champions League clubs.

Since he is an academy graduate, Tyrique George’s departure will represent pure profit, and it could significantly help the Blues balance their books. Meanwhile, a move away will help the 19-year-old get regular minutes, which will aid his development as a player.

Joining a mid-table club could actually help him gain prominence in the English top flight. Multiple top clubs from across Europe will knock on his door; as a result, it will be interesting to see which club he ends up joining amid his links with Crystal Palace and Fulham.
