Crystal Palace will reportedly compete with Everton to sign 22-year-old Spanish right-back Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla next year.
According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Juanlu Sanchez is the subject of interest of Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a right-back next year. So, the 22-year-old Liverpool wide player has emerged as a target for the South London club.
The Spaniard is also a target for Everton and Napoli, with the latter coming close to securing his services in the summer transfer window. Interestingly, the youngster was eager to join Napoli earlier this year, but the deal did not materialise. The three clubs remain keen on signing him.
Juanlu Sanchez and his Sevilla stint so far
Juanlu Sanchez has established himself as one of the most promising young prospects in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at Sevilla FC. The Montequinto native spent his formative years in Spain and graduated from the youth division at the Andalusian club. The 22-year-old made his senior bow for Los Nervionenses midway through the 2021/22 season, and he has been a regular in the last two seasons.
The Spanish wide player also won the gold medal with Spain at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, the youngster has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for Sevilla while chipping in with six goals and nine assists. His progress has not gone unnoticed, with Everton and Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Everton wanted to sign Juanlu Sanchez in the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as the Toffees are still scouring the market for a right-back after letting Ashley Young leave as a free agent and not replacing him. Additionally, Seamus Coleman is in the twilight of his career, and Nathan Patterson has struggled with fitness issues at Everton. So, the Sevilla wide player has emerged as a viable target for Everton.
As for Crystal Palace, Daniel Munoz is the only reliable right wing-back under Oliver Glasner. However, with the South London club competing in the UEFA Europa League, they can do with an alternative. Several candidates, including Rick Karsdorp, have thus emerged on Crystal Palace’s radar, with the Sevilla prospect an option worth considering.
However, with Napoli also involved in the battle for Juanlu’s signature, it will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace or Everton can convince the 22-year-old Spanish full-back to move to the Premier League instead.
