Crystal Palace eyeing Josh Acheampong as Marc Guehi replacement

Strasbourg vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction ahead of their UEFA Conference League clash on Thursday night.

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace have identified Chelsea defensive sensation Josh Acheampong as a long-term replacement for Marc Guehi.

According to a report from The Sun, Crystal Palace are keeping a close eye on Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong, and they could make a move for him in the near future. The Eagles consider him a great option to replace Marc Guehi in the long run.

Guehi was on the verge of joining Liverpool on transfer deadline day. Everything was agreed between the Reds and the Eagles. However, the move collapsed when Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the deal on Oliver Glasner’s request.

The Austrian manager made it quite clear that he fought hard to keep the English international, as the club failed to secure an ideal replacement. Glasner is now set to back Guehi throughout, and the player seems to have taken it well. The Englishman has moved on from his failed move to Anfield.

However, Guehi’s contract is running out, and he does not have any intention of staying at Selhurst Park beyond this season. The 25-year-old has his heart set on a move to Liverpool, and there are other top clubs that would love to sign him for free. As a result, his departure in the near future is almost certain.

Crystal Palace want Acheampong to replace Guehi

With Marc Guehi set to leave, Crystal Palace have been working very hard to identify potential replacements. While the Eagles do have quite a few options at their disposal, Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong is one of the exciting names on their wishlist.

They feel the Chelsea graduate, who has been with the first team since the end of 2024, can help their cause. He could help replace their skipper in the long run. While the teenage defender is a very exciting prospect, he has only had limited game time under Enzo Maresca.

Given the depth they have the 29-year-old is unlikely to get much game time at the club. As a result, he could be interested in a potential switch to Selhurst Park, where he will certainly have a prominent role. But with his contract running until 2029, the Blues could demand a significant fee. For now, Crystal Palace will continue to track him, and it will be interesting to see if they do make a move.
