Aston Villa will reportedly track the progress of 25-year-old French striker Wilson Isidor at Sunderland AFC this season, with the Black Cats valuing him at around £35 million.
According to a report by Football Insider, Wilson Isidor is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker next year. So, the 25-year-old Sunderland striker has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit, with the newly promoted Premier League club valuing him at around £35 million.
Wilson Isidor and his career so far
Wilson Isidor has established himself as an asset for Sunderland since arriving from Zenit St. Petersburg last year. Born in Rennes, the Frenchman spent his formative years in his homeland, starting his youth career with SC Le Rheu before graduating from the youth division at Stade Rennais.
However, the 25-year-old struggled to land on his feet for several years, representing Stade Rennais, AS Monaco, Lokomotiv Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg before finally establishing a foothold during his ongoing spell with Sunderland. The Wearside club initially signed Isidor on loan in August 2024 before completing a permanent move for only £5 million a few months later.
Meanwhile, the French striker has taken to the Premier League like a fish to water, scoring three goals in five appearances thus far. Meanwhile, Isidor’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Aston Villa may be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Aston Villa’s interest in Wilson Isidor is understandable. The Villans are scouring the market for a versatile attacker, with Unai Emery preferring players who can reprise roles other than their primary duties. So, Evann Guessand and Jadon Sancho reinforced Aston Villa’s offensive unit in the summer transfer window.
With Ollie Watkins turning 30 in a few weeks, Aston Villa should identify a succession plan for the English international. So, Isidor has emerged as a target for the West Midlands club, and they will closely monitor his performances for Sunderland in the 2025/26 season. Interestingly, the 25-year-old Frenchman was the tormentor for Aston Villa last weekend as the newly promoted Premier League club held the Villans to a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Sunderland will demand around £35 million to part ways with Isidor, which will give them a significant profit on their investment of £5 million earlier this year. It will be interesting to see if the French striker becomes a top target for Aston Villa in the coming months.
