Tottenham competing with Liverpool, Chelsea for Jarrad Branthwaite as Manchester United prepare £60 million bid

Tottenham are in a battle with rivals Chelsea and Liverpool for Jarrad Branthwaite, with Manchester United reportedly readying a bid.

According to The Boy Hotspur, Tottenham are interested in a move for Jarrad Branthwaite in the near future. The north Londoners do not have a straightforward way with the Everton defender owing to his difficult availability as well as rival interest from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

In the summer of 2024, Everton held firm to a few bids from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite. The Toffees were under financial pressure to comply with PSR regulations, but they chose to keep their promising defender, who has since committed his future to the Toffees.

Branthwaite signed a new five-year deal back in July, thus ending speculation over a big move elsewhere to one of the big Premier League sides. The 23-year-old PL defender is still in for heavy demand from the big sides, including Liverpool, who are keen to sign him as a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

Everton may not entertain the idea of selling their star defender to their Merseyside rivals, which might be a big boost for the others, such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham. The Blues are expected to search the market for a new centre-back following Levi Colwill’s injury, and could surprise Everton with a staggering bid for Branthwaite.

Tottenham are also interested in signing Branthwaite as they continue to build their squad under Thomas Frank. The idea of signing the 23-year-old PL defender from Everton would be in line with making themselves a big force in English and European football in the years to come. Spurs could potentially explore the idea of a bid in January, although Everton’s stance remains clear that the player is not for sale.

Manchester United are set to bid for Jarrad Branthwaite

Manchester United and Branthwaite held talks in the summer to no avail, but the Red Devils have not lost sight of the defender just yet. The club are ready to table a £60 million bid for the defender ahead of the January window to test Everton’s resolve.

Everton are not about to entertain any fresh approaches for Branthwaite, especially in the January window. The new contract for the 23-year-old PL defender is a big signal of intent from the Toffees in their desire to keep hold of him for the long-term future, and that will be a clear-cut message to all suitors thinking about making a move for the defender.
