Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have no intentions of sanctioning the departure of Morgan Rogers, amidst interest from Chelsea.
According to a report from Football Insider, Aston Villa will not negotiate the departure of Morgan Rogers any time soon. Despite his poor form, the English international remains an integral part of Unai Emery’s plans, and they will not entertain any offers in January.
On the back of an impressive spell at Middlesbrough, Rogers joined Villa at the start of 2024, and he hasn’t looked back since. The 23-year-old attacking mainstay has established himself as one of their mainstays and was by far their best player last season.
He was involved in a total of 54 matches and ended up contributing towards 30 goals. 19 of those goal contributions came in the English top flight. His performances attracted a lot of interest from across Europe during the summer transfer window.
Despite their financial struggles, Villa managed to hold onto one of their most valuable assets. However, he hasn’t been in the best of form in the new campaign, and it has reflected in the team’s overall performance as well.
Villa will not sell Rogers mid-season
There have been some suggestions that Villa could now look to cash in on the 23-year-old in the winter transfer window, amidst interest from Chelsea. The Blues were interested in his services during the summer and could reignite their pursuit in January, as they continue to monitor him.
However, the London club are unlikely to succeed. Despite his poor performances, Rogers remains a key figure in Emery’s team, and they are hoping he can soon turn things around. Villa have no intentions of negotiating his departure mid-season.
The Spanish manager is desperate to keep hold of one of his most important players. Despite rumours, Villa are not planning for life without the 23-year-old English international. The Birmingham-based club are hoping Rogers can turn things around and help his team get back on track after a poor start to the season. With the club eyeing a European spot, he surely has a very important role to play.
