Arsenal ready to offer €45 million for Takefusa Kubo

Arsenal are ready to make a €45 million offer to test Real Sociedad’s resolve on Japanese winger Takefusa Kubo ahead of the January window.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal could test Real Sociedad’s resolve on Takefusa Kubo with a €45 million offer ahead of the January window. Mikel Arteta reportedly sees room for another wide attacker to come in despite their heavy investment in attacking areas during the summer, as the Japanese international has a €60 million release clause attached to his contract.

Arsenal had the biggest net spend among all other Premier League sides during the summer, with the club choosing to invest in squad depth as a priority. In the process of strengthening the team, the Gunners signed multiple new players at good prices.

Those included Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke, while defensive and midfield reinforcements also arrived among eight new signings. The Madueke signing from Chelsea was particularly intriguing as it solved an issue Mikel Arteta had wanted for a long time, as the club had struggled to find a backup to Bukayo Saka.

Madueke’s bright start to life was curtailed by a knee injury against Manchester City that will keep him out for nearly two months. However, the Gunners boss feels there’s still room for another wide attacker, as they are interested in a move for Takefusa Kubo.

The Japanese winger has been a decisive figure for Real Sociedad, and while his numbers are not appealing from an output perspective, he still can prove important. The Gunners are prepared to make a €45 million offer ahead of the January window to test Real Sociedad’s resolve on the winger, with the Spanish club likely to point the north Londoners towards the winger’s €60 million release clause.

Will Arsenal sign Takefusa Kubo?

The idea of adding another wide attacker may not resonate well at the moment, given the investment they made in the summer. Moreover, there are probably other areas that need fine-tuning, such as adding some more layers to their midfield, which casts doubts over their need for the €60 million-rated La Liga winger.

Moreover, Kubo tends to play predominantly on their right wing, where Arsenal currently have enough options in Saka and Madueke. Hence, the likelihood of the Gunners investing another huge sum in the position looks unlikely, even if the €60 million-rated La Liga winger is someone admired by the club.
