Tottenham Hotspur will compete with Manchester United to sign 21-year-old Ukrainian midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk from fellow Premier League club Brentford next year.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Yehor Yarmolyuk is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are eager to bolster their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder next year. So, the 21-year-old Brentford midfielder has emerged as a target for the North London club.
However, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners face stiff competition from Manchester United for his signature. Meanwhile, Brentford would prefer to keep the highly-rated defensive midfielder, but they will demand around £30 million to part ways with him next year.
Yehor Yarmolyuk and his progress at Brentford
Yehor Yarmolyuk has established himself as one of the best young midfield prospects in the Premier League since joining Brentford from SC Dnipro-1 in July 2022. The 21-year-old spent his formative years in Ukraine and graduated from the youth division at SC Dnipro-1. However, the youngster has risen in prominence during his spell in the Premier League.
The Ukrainian international has gradually risen in stature since joining Brentford, and he has made over 50 appearances thus far for the West London club while amassing over 3,000 minutes of game time. Meanwhile, Yarmolyuk’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known Premier League clubs. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Manchester United’s interest in Yehor Yarmolyuk makes sense. The Red Devils are combing the market for a defensive midfielder, and they wanted to sign Carlos Baleba in the summer transfer window before the deal failed to materialise. While Baleba remains a target for Manchester United, they have other names on their wishlist, with Yarmolyuk also a viable target.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, the North London club showed interest in the Brentford midfielder in the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialise. The continued interest is understandable, as Yves Bissouma has no future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Additionally, Rodrigo Bentancur is in the final 12 months of his contract.
Meanwhile, a price tag of around £30 million makes Yarmolyuk an attractive target for Manchester United and Tottenham. It will be interesting to see if the two Premier League bigwigs submit an appealing bid to sign the 21-year-old Ukrainian international in the coming months.
